Coffee with a Cow!
While I was sitting having my morning coffee the other day while watching the cows in the paddock, I could feel the calm come over me. I had a large to do list as most people that have a family and a farm do, but yet in that moment none of my list mattered much.
This got me thinking why? Why is it that the cows have this effect on us? Why is it that when we take a minute to rest our list of things, we have to do doesn’t seem so hard? Is this what self-care really is?
For years I had thought self-care was about holidaying to fancy places a few times a year? buying that new car to treat ourselves? or getting a facial each week? But is this really what true self-care looks like?
Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the lovely holidays, the new car and the face mask but I have come to realise that self-care for me is really about taking a few moments each day to enjoy the free things in life. For so long I thought to have self-care I needed to spend money and it turns out I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Sometimes I think we need to sit back and enjoy the free things in life and have a better understanding of what selfcare really means to us on a more personal level.
I will now be making sure that at least 3 times a week I allow myself the space to just sit and stop and watch the cows!
