Why visiting a farm is so good for your mental health
Spending time outdoors especially on green spaces is one of the fastest ways to improve your health and happiness. Spending time outdoors has been shown to lower stress, blood pressure and heart rate, while increasing mood and improving mental health.
We all knew that the outdoors had great benefits to your overall health but what else about the farm can help with improving your mental health?
But did you know that lots of the benefits you get from being outdoors you also get when spending time with an animal such as lowering blood pressure, lowering stress and improving mood. They also have added benefits of increasing social interaction, providing emotional support and reducing stress and anxiety. These benefits work equally on adults and children.
So often as parents we look to find an activity for the family that will entertain and benefit the children, but how great is it that while taking part in a farm day with the family everyone will actually reap the rewards!!!
